Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Volleyball Team Seeks to Gain Africa Glory

Nairobi, Kenya – 23 April 2024 – Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Managing Director Joe Sang has officially unveiled the KPC women’s volleyball team heading to Cairo, Egypt for the Women’s African Clubs Volleyball Championship.

The team of 14 led by the Head Coach Esther Jepkosgei and team captain Rose Magoi will represent Kenya at the prestigious annual continental club championship alongside KCB and Kenya prisons.

Speaking during the unveil ceremony yesterday, Mr. Sang expressed his unwavering belief in the team’s capability to emerge top in the championship and reiterated KPC’s commitment to supporting the team in their quest for success.

“Our team is exceptionally talented. I have no doubt the ladies will perform very well and surpass last year’s performance where they finished in second position. I pledge KPC’s full commitment and support to the team as they depart for Cairo” he said.

Mr. Sang symbolically handed over the national flag to the team to instil confidence and uplift their spirits and noted that the team will not only represent KPC but also Kenya in the championship. Further, he expressed confidence that the gallant ladies will bring pride to the nation with their performance on the international stage.

Adding to the sentiments of the MD, KPC HR & Admin General Manager Mrs. Dinah Kirwa acknowledged the team’s preparedness for the challenge ahead. “Following the team’s outstanding performance during the KPC@50 Volleyball Extravaganza where they emerged winners of the senior women’s category, I believe they are at a good place both physically and mentally to bring the gold medal home,” she stated.

Head Coach Esther Jepkosgei echoed Mrs. Kirwa’s sentiment, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to secure a podium finish this year due to their extensive preparation. “This year, we commenced our preparations much earlier compared to last year, and I can confidently say that the team is fully prepared,” stated Jepkosgei.

The coach also extended gratitude to the KPC board and management for providing ample time and support for their preparation, while also appreciating the Managing Director for his unwavering support and encouragement for the team.
